Description
A bike lane on Central Avenue all the way to the ferry terminal is needed for the safety of riders. Bike riders are forced to share a lane with cars and have no shoulder during the final section of central avenue, which is unsafe.

Thanks for your input! Although the text says Central, it looks like you're referring to Main Street in the map. The City will be installing bike lanes on Main Street, from the Ferry Terminal to Pacific Ave before the end of 2019. As you might also know, the City has a major project planned for Central Avenue, which connects to Main St. More info can be found here: https://www.alamedaca.gov/Departments/Planning-Building-and-Transportation/Transportation/Central-Avenue
Let us know if this does not answer your question. Also, since you are interested in bicycle and pedestrian safety issues, please note that the City is launching the update of its Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans. If you’d like to receive notices about opportunities to provide input on these updates, please send your email address to transportation@alamedaCA.gov.
