As there is no exclusive right turn lane here, a motor vehicle is supposed to turn right from the combined through-right lane (as noted on the overhead sign and formally on the pavement before the resurfacing covered up the markings) - and checking for bikes and yielding to bikes before turning. A prudent cyclist would slow to the cars' turning speed so as not to enter its blind spot. Comparing this location to other similar situations, what's really needed here is to better define the intent of the curb space. It is designated No Parking, and it is unmarked, so it invites motor vehicles into the bike lane. A more defined approach would be to continue the parking spaces up to the corner so that the bike lane is more obviously just a bike lane.

So, everyone has a different answer.

I think a better question would be: Why doesn’t someone make it obvious by using paint and signs and, above all, consistency?

I use the combined through-right lane per the sign which I am pretty sure is correct. But, most times when I'm turning here someone in the bike lane nearly hits me then honks at me like it's my fault. Surely, it is only a matter of time before an accident happens here unless it already has. It needs to be clearly marked.
