The growth on these cherry trees is called black knot. It is a fungal infection that effects primarily plum and cherry trees. Warm moist seasons like we had this past spring are favorable to the growth of black knot. Black knot is not know to have any immediate impact on wildlife. We will continue to monitor these trees for any change in conditions.
