Still there. I agree IP, at least they could have said Call the TXDOT at XXX-XXXX to handle. Something. This is the inroad to and from Ft Worth, you would figure it would take priority. Still there.
I sense a great deal of frustration in your recent posts. You note that there has been no action taken for months on several items of concern that you brought to this web site in an effort have corrected. Rightfully so! Your frustration is shared no doubt by many of the readers and believe it or not some of the city employees too. Why is that ?
Here are some suggestions to getting action taken on items of concern :
Get related to a City staff member. Nepotism still works! Unfortunately, it works both ways.
Make sure the item of your concern is of concern to ANY city employee , personally. They will take care of the rest. If any of the sites were near an employee’s home it probably would not last long enough to even draw your attentive eye.
Belong to a social, fraternal , or religious organization alongside any Council Member, the Mayor , or City employee ( see above) . Suddenly, your mere mention of a problem becomes a widespread voice of community outrage as it is passed on the City staff.
It is not that no one wants to do a good job. It is important to all of us, but as you know everything flows downhill. This environment of budget cuts has everyone in fear of their paychecks. Consequently, every step is to protect that check. Do what the boss says no matter what their motivation. City employees understand politics better than anyone!
I hope you will continue to look to improve Haltom City. You will note that some of your concerns have been addressed and corrected. Some have been improved through City notice and some through natural attrition, like the sale of Ruckers.
The efforts made by you and the other readers of this site give some of us hope that someone still cares about this town.
Thank you City.
Insider, You are very funny. That is all good advice. I dislike having to spread our dirty laundry on the web, but its the tool that was chosen. I appreciate your approach. There are several issues pending but Im waiting to get some of these resolved first. Many items are not acknowledged on the website, thats not the issue. Its when the residents and visitors dont take the city serious, and have no concern for fellow residents way of life that 'frustrates' me. The majority of my 'issues' never get reported since I try to wait a month or longer before reporting and most of those are taken off the list. When people come to Haltom I want them to think twice before driving down the streets tossing tires and garbage out onto the street. In fact I want them to fear doing that for the consequence. Then the second thing I want them to think is Yea, Haltom, I want to live there, I want to shop there, I want to play there, not just pass thru cause its a short cut between here and there.
Thanks to all!!!
There is no reason that Haltom City should not be the "go to" place for the working middle class familes in Tarrant County. We continue to suffer from mediore leadership. We deserve leaders who truly deeeply desire a successful, ,prosperous "place to call home". I would love to elect a person like Innocent Bystander who has shown a sustained self motivation for the betterment of our city.
Unfortunately, once again, we simply get names on a ballot. That is not to say that the candidates are not good people, they are, rather it is simply they have not distinguished themselves as active civic leaders prior to taking office. It is about drive, committment and vision.
I like leaders such as Innocent Bystander , who ever you are. I know and so would everyone else that Haltom City would be in for vast improvement if you were in office . I wish you are on the ballot this May.
Oh, may be you are.
The Insider is dead on...and that is sad, too! What makes it even more sad is that Haltom City has the this as the link to report problems and on the front page of their website...guess it is just for show. Betty Home sna Gardens is right as well, Haltom City CAN be a clean, safe city people enjoy to call home or visit, but we need folks like Innocent Bystander at City Hall or with authority to make things happen. And as much as I know how right The Insider is (previously in an "insider" postion myself), I still refuse to play the political game that is being forced on citizens and am tired of government officials, elected or employed, who are disconnected and disregarding of the people they are paid (quite well) or elected to serve. We have grafitti on the junk vehicles dumped in our apartment complex that have been parked for over 2 months, dayworkers that have united into near ganglike packs, the entire back end of our complex is merely a dayworker camp. BUT that is NOT what the lease says, and multiple violations of rules, codes of conduct, city codes, city fire codes, occupancy limits (provisions for increasing the maximum amount of persons in a particular unit are in place for FAMILIES with CHILDREN, there are NO provisions for masses of adult male dayworkers craming into a one bedroom apartment with one "houseman" to cook, clean, and unclog the overused toilet!!!!) And instead of always having to "respond" to issues, how about HC trying a little PREVENTION and MITIGATION?
Nice, I now feel accomplished. YAY! Even though my previous comments have been building out of frustration at times I really appreciate this new contact. They have been knocking out things left and right from Hickory to Midway along 121. Appreciate it.

Property owners would get a ticket or warning to cover it up.
