So are we just gonna wait till someone dies before we decide to fix this issue I have almost been hit numerous times why have a light here if no one stops the cops never around to monitor the area

I've crossed at this light countless times and have had the same experience as others who have experienced or observed drivers going through solid red lights at this crossing. An overhead light might help but I believe the root problem is that drivers who go through the red light have made a conscious decisions to not stop. I've actually taken to video taping my crossing when using the light. That wouldn't help me but could help my widow get justice should an incident (I refuse to use the word "accident") occurs. I'm old enough and safety aware enough to make a high level decision on crossing by looking at the driver''s eyes to see if s/he is reacting to the light. I doubt many kids would be as cautious. If a reader has doubt about the situation, I'd recommend they spend some time at the light
