Description
Going down hill (southbound) the shoulder is broken up and very dangerous for cyclists. The shoulder is wide, so a motorist might assume cyclists should use it, but there is a very real risk of being thrown of your bike or puncturing a tire due to the condition of the pavement. This presents a danger to all vehicles.

This road segment is in the "Western County Pedestrian and Bicycle Access Plan". The top level link for the plan is :
http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/planning/masterplanning/bikeped/westbikeped.html.
See page 45 and 46, project 438 at this link below where this segment is identified for improvement from BLOC level C to BLOC level A, priority level 1. The recommended improvement is "3a. Bike Lane by Striping: An existing shoulder or an area along the curb is striped and/or marked for a bike lane, without restriping any of the existing traffic lanes."
