Some of us don't want more stop signs at every single intersection. It's maddening already! There are clear stop signs on Maple, at Ellsworth. The problem is that many drivers no longer pay attention to any traffic laws, including stopping at red lights! Or observing speed limits. We need more traffic surveillance by the police, not more stop signs. Nobody gets a ticket for anything anymore, the police department does not want to provide more traffic cops, and it's the wild west on our streets and highways everywhere.

Flowerchild, I don’t like “more stop signs” either, but I dislike the inconsistency even more. As I drive down Elm Street going west, half the time I can’t see the stop signs before I’m on top of the intersection because of the trees. I don’t like having to stop at every intersection, but it wouldn’t be bad if u consistently knew that I had to. Besides, it slows down the drivers who pass through at 40 mph and faster.

Gary, but your comment shows that even having a stop sign doesn't mean that you're going to see it. The city needs to keep them visible, cutting branches that obstruct them. But the biggest problem is speed and disregard for the laws. I live on Ellsworth, and I see cars speeding past my house at 50 or even 60 mph (I'm not exaggerating). I frequently walk, and it's extremely hazardous and nerve-wracking to cross an intersection, because a car can come out of nowhere and charge right through a red light while I'm trying to cross. I've seen this time and time again. I write letters to the police department, and get no response.

@flowerchild. I too live on Ellsworth and agree with you. Whatever it takes to slow cars down on this street MUST BE DONE! Don’t wait till it’s more than a car accident. Call the alder. See my above post for contact info.
