The culvert is still clogged, nobody's volunteering to change that. Since winter is approaching I doubt anybody will. Found out the Dept. of Environmental Quality might be the best hope...in the spring...maybe.

The water was high enough this year that some carp made it from Elizabeth Lake into the feeder canal to Crescent Lake. Some neighbors witnessed a little spawning going on but I missed it. Ten years ago the canal would fill with fish and the spawning would last for several days.
I haven't seen a flat shelled turtle in years. They used to sun themselves on the banks in little groups. I've seen pheasant, a wild turkey, a green heron, a wood duck and a bald eagle in this neighborhood on occasions. Fox and, of course deer, are full time residents. The swan have taken over where the Canadian geese used to be in largest numbers. The mallards are only a handful now.
The ecosystem has changed so much since I first moved here14 years ago. It's becoming worn and stale. There's little else but blue gills in Crescent Lake now. There used to be walleye and lake perch.
I plan to do SOMETHING in the spring to help the water flow through here. Stay tuned.
