Description
Hello,
I am reaching out for help to bring attention to cyclist in Oakland. Our youngest brother sadly died Oct 3 2019 in a dooring accident on fruitvale ave. We are reaching out to the cycling community in an effort to bring awareness to that particular area to make changes and allow more bike lanes for the bicycle community. Our dear brother Israel Lopez-Garibay sadly collided with an open car door which then was thrown into traffic and struck by a truck and died on impact. If you can advice our mourning family on how best to address this difficult situation. We are also seeking funeral/memorial donations through fundraisers. https://www.gofundme.com/f/w7hus-israel-lopez-funeral-services-fundraiser?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet
We will also be having a food sale on Oct 13 2019 starting at 11am we will be selling food and drinks organized by his loving family which will be held at San Leandro Marina.
This is a link we found to information about the incident which indicates for us to seek legal advice

Any advice would help
Thank you,
Lupita Lopez-Zuniga

Hi Lupita, this is Robert from Bike East Bay. We have been following the news about your brother and were so sad to hear about this very preventable tragedy.
We have already shared out the news about the GoFundMe campaign via our social media accounts and newsletter, and are available for any coordination or assistance your family might need.
I will be out of town next week but if you like please contact our advocacy director Dave by email (dave at BikeEastBay dot com) any time and we will be glad to follow up right away. Thank you.
