Description

This issue has been going on for over 25 years as the different car sales companies come and go. They all seem to think if the asphalt goes all the way to the edge of the street and through the right-a-way, it is ok. No matter what kind of safety issue it causes or who gets hurt because of their ignorance. Now that the snowbirds are here, they are walking and riding their bicycles in this area next to the trailer park next door. The restaurant across the street at 7129 S. Tamiami Trail opened their restaurant with insufficient parking on their site. So, they come across the trail in the evening and park in the car lot as close to the street as they can with no regard to anyone's safety either. I am shocked that they even got a permit of occupancy from the county. Why is that? Also, this car lot has paved out towards Tamiami Trail past the right-a-way the same way as they have done on Buccaneer Dr. I always thought the right-a-way started and stopped at the FPL power lines as they are usually a good indication. You can clearly see on site how far out they are from the right-a-way. There are no sidewalks along Tamiami Trl. or Buccaneer Dr, but ditches. NO WHERE TO WALK BUT ON THE STREET!!! I hope it doesn't take a fatality before someone gets something done. You should see this intersection at night when the restaurant is open. Cars coming from all directions and it is almost impossible to get across Tamiami Trl. All because the county allowed a restaurant to open with 75-85 seats and maybe 15 parking spaces. Please do something with the car lot on Buccaneer Dr. and on Tamiami Trl. and with the restaurant. I thank you advance for looking into this and correcting a hazardous safety issue. I'm sure no one in the county government wants anyone to get hurt and I certainly don't want to have to write something in the paper about all three safety issues that are going on.
