You are correct. The signal you hear is an indicator signal that is used for those who have sight impairments to be able to find the pedestrian push button.

Ok, is there a possibility of setting it up to stop at a certain time of night because its extraordinarily hard to sleep at night now for the people who live nearby

This is NOT normal. It is still beeping 24/7. No other signal Anywhere does this and it is actually misleading people into walking across a green light.

If this is truly how the beeping is supposed to work, please let us know what other walk signals around the city operate in this way so we can confirm.

I agree it is beeping non stop. I have to shut my window at night because it it’s non stop/ keeps us awake.

Still beeping continuously, creating a safety hazard for giving incorrect info to pedestrians sighted or visually impaired

We have revisited this intersection again and the sound indicator volume. The indicator can not be limited to only day time use as it is required at all times. As traffic signals are upgraded, new pedestrian signals are being installed. The intersection of Elm St and Pleasant St was recently upgraded as well.

The volume locator tone has to be between 2dB and 5dB greater than ambient noise levels and be respond to level changes as needed.
