Why not? It's in the City ROW. How can we get the city to provide crucial infrastructure for its residents rather than constantly passing the buck on this issue?

Thank you RJ for your follow up. As part of the Great Streets projects, the City is working to enhance the seating options in the downtown area. We do coordinate with GMT to evaluate where shelters and other amenities are needed outside the downtown area. We also review proposed development projects to integrate with transit such as the Cambrian Rise development that will have a heated waiting area with seats. Your good suggestion for non-shelter seats at bus stops throughout the transit system is one that I will share with the GMT board and staff as well as DPW's own planning team.

We spoke to GMT staff today and they have some benches in storage and they will look at deploying them starting next spring based on stop location ridership levels and site conditions. They will evaluate this opportunity over the winter and, if viable, they seek to install benches in appropriate locations next spring and summer.
