Description
The walk sign at 70th and Cornelia (crossing 70th on the west side of the street) does not always turn to ‘walk’ even after pressing the walk button. Even if the light is green to cross 70th, the walk sign will turn to ‘do not walk’. We are walking our kindergartener to school and this causes us to stay out in the cold longer than necessary? Can you please fix it so it defaults to ‘walk’ on every green light? Or if you can’t do that, can you ensure that when we press the walk button that it will trigger a walk sign so that we don’t have to wait through unnecessary light cycles to cross in the cold. Thanks

Hello neighbor,
An electrician looked at this intersection and is planning on setting the "Walk" sign to automatically appear for one hour in the morning and another hour in the afternoon when school is beginning and being let-out. This impacts signal timing, which is why it wasn't currently in place.
Thank you for submitting this request. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to contact me directly at the information below.

After further discussion with staff, these push-buttons do work properly at all hours. After further study, adding automated walk signals will lead to greater vehicle delay on W 70th St, so these changes will not be made.
As long as the crossing buttons are pushed, the signals are working properly.
