I have asked about this repaving for months and never have gotten a response as to when it will be done. It is in HORRIBLE condition and I see many, many other roads completely repaved that are not where near as bad. Why is the city ignoring this mile long stretch of a heavily traveled (by cars and bicycles) road. If there is a reason why this project is not being addressed and done, please share it.
as a new resident of Huntsville (relocated from Northern Virginia) I am shocked at the conditions of the roads in the city. With the heavy influx of government and private industry to the city and county, I would encourage a comprehensive review of road conditions as you only get one chance to make a first impression. had I known the conditions of the roads BEFORE moving to Huntsville, I likely would have reconsidered. I've had to get my truck balanced and aligned twice since moving here (4 months ago). Not OK at all.
Also, I agree with the above...the conditions of Bankhead are very bad. It's quite dangerous, especially for bikers and motorcycles. Is that liability worth it for the city.. I would think not, but I'm not the City Attorney either. Again, I encourage the City to get funding through DOT grants, Senator Shelby's office, etc.
We will have a crew repair the potholes at this time. Our Huntsville Connect app is tool for our constituents to easily report service related issues. Repaving is a major construction project that has a lengthy process to determine which streets will be resurfaced. We will add your roadway to the list under consideration for future paving operations. Resident requests, while appreciated, do not alone guarantee that a roadway will necessarily be scheduled for repaving. For more information on resurfacing, please read this blog on the City’s website: https://cityblog.huntsvilleal.gov/when-will-my-road-get-resurfaced/ . If you have additional questions, please call Huntsville Public Works at 256-883-3944. Thank you, Your Huntsville Connect Customer Service Team
understood. thanks for the quick response. Also, thanks for the blog address. super helpful. I agree that resurfacing is a expensive and lengthy process. I'm happy you've added the road to the list and it's been addressed at some level. have to start somewhere, right? BTW, this app is great. I have not lived anywhere that offers such a service. Good on ya Huntsville!
Thank you for reporting your service request to the City of Huntsville. The potholes have been repaired and we are closing your request. If you need further assistance, please let us know.
