There’s multiple requests from homeowners on this street about the terrible road damage. City hasn’t responded to anything for months apparently. Other neighbors have been calling as well with no response.

We will take a look at Hillcrest Avenue and determine the best way to address the issues. Sorry for the delay in response and thank you for reporting.

One more month has gone by and still no action. I typically work from home but maybe someone came by to take a look on a day I was out. Perhaps there are larger issues to address, but a temporary patch would be fantastic. At least it would stop my house from shaking when the larger vehicles go by.

There has been no update for any requests made on Hillcrest ave. Months and months of waiting. Some spots are turning into recurring sinkholes which could cause huge disasters for people that live here. We pay so much money to live in city of Decatur, why can it not be a priority to fix a road that multiple homeowners have reported issues on for so long??

Yet another month has gone by with no response from the city. Has anyone at least come by to assess the road issues on Hillcrest? This is a real problem.

And another month gone by with no response from the city. Ms. Hirose, as an engineer I'm sure you can appreciate the damage vibrations can do to structures. It continues to get worse until the problem is fixed. I cannot fix the problem - it is the dip in the street that causes ground vibrations when large vehicles drive over it. I am a structural engineer myself and am looking at foundation and drywall damage to my house as a result of the condition of the street. This has been a problem for months. I am trying to work with you to get this resolved. Please respond.

Did anyone ever come out to take a look at this? Is there a plan to fix this?

I understand this is a very uncertain and stressful time for everyone. That being said, this could be a good time to keep people working fixing all the small issues around the City of Decatur (and elsewhere). This type of work, if it can be done safely, would have the benefits of the workers continuing to have a paycheck and many issues being resolved with minimal impact to traffic since most of us are staying home. Consequently, when we come out on the other side of this, a good number of these smaller trouble spots will have been fixed thus benefiting everyone. Perhaps this is already underway and I'm late to the game.

I came out again today and the (Depressions) in the street to me look like Water or Sewer issues. The markings on the street indicate that at some point those depressions were to be cut out and patched. I will be back out tomorrow to look inspect the storm drain system to be sure that it has not failed. Thank you for your continued patience as we collectively try to get this resolved.

What about the substantial damage to all of the road towards the end of Hillcrest? The dips, the holes, the huge sinkhole re-forming again. These have been reported for months now... is anyone ever going to fix them? I know it’s not your fault but Jesus our cars are getting damaged, our homes shake when large trucks drive down... I don’t understand why COD isn’t doing anything, it’s extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Strangely enough, the dip in the road is still there. Nothing has been done. I know I paid my property taxes recently (and have been doing so for about 20 years). Why am I paying so much money to live here when what appears to be a simple road issue cannot be resolved in a timely manner? Echoing Deidra's sentiment above, this is extremely frustrating and disappointing.

This oversized dip/pothole has been reported & surveyed by City of Decatur several times & NOTHING has been done but markings with spray painted on Hillcrest.. Nevertheless it is expanding daily as delivery , COD maintenance & oversized trucks travel the dead end street. The entire street has been surveyed because of obvious markings & since me living here over 20yrs only patched. Our taxes are increasing & asking can some of it go toward doing the correct repairs /paving to Hillcrest Ave from top to bottom ? Thanks for reviewing the issue.
