If Alameda Council & APD don't disperse this now - it will continue to grow. If escalation of this homeless encampment is not stopped - only a short matter of time before it becomes another Home Depot in Libbyland.
Flo Lo will continue to tow the party line. As long as this doesn't spread to other areas the City will turn a blind eye to the #poseytriangle. If everyone belongs, then invite the camps to Franklin Park? #nimby
I will be attending the city council meeting tomorrow 11/19 @ 7pm if anyone would like to join me. I think this issue is going to require alameda residents to be very present and fight for the city to enforce the no camping laws.
Il Cane Di Ferro - Residents living near & across from Franklin Park - would out up with this for a nano second. Action by the authorities would be swift.
Sam Adams - I would like to attend but I'm currently out of town. Keep us posted.
Sam Adams... just watched you on City Council CCTV. You did an excellent job expressing your concerns.
Predictably the City cited the 9th Circuit and Boise. The mayor will respond to your email with similar language. The council is painful and weak.
APD is frustrated and would like to do some real policing on this matter. Yet the council keeps them from doing so. Personally, I think they are relieved the tents are confined to the West End/Tubes. This is historically a section of town which is the island's step child.
Rep from WABA was there tonight receiving a certificate. Interesting...her members aren't happy about this, too yet she said zero. Sad.
In the interim, keep the pressure on. Educate yourself on the issues. May have to get worse before it gets better. #poseytriangle
Hey City of Alameda...you told us tonight to basically deal with this nonsense, however, does that include all the filth and trash dumped in these areas? Would this be allowed in Franklin Park? No way. 🤔
our thoroughly corrupt and worthless city government couldn't care less. reporting it to them does nothing. all this does is document the issue publicly so the entire world can see what a pathetic joke our city government really is.
this is directly connected to the out-of-control homeless infestation and toxic dump site at marina village that the city has knowingly ignored for about 6 years now
Is anyone on this thread interested in meeting in person and collaborating on how to work with APD & the city? I'll go speak at city council meetings as often as I can, but I think there's more power in an organized effort. I totally agree that if the homeless camp gets to stay b/c of the Boise ruling we do not need to stand for the influx of garbage and crime. The organized groups around gun safety got a lot of air time last night. We can organize too. Let me know your thoughts.
The only way we'll get them to act is if we all rise up and revolt. If we just politely voice our concerns to them they'll ignore us. They couldn't care less about us. Unless their livelihood is in jeopardy they won't act. We have to deprive them of their income, remove them from power entirely to solve this problem. As long as we let the corrupt parasites from danville and other cities maintain their stranglehold on the city nothing will change. We keep letting a corrupt mayor and corrupt police chief run our town- nothing is going to change. No amount of words will do anything. We must revolt. That is your only option. It's either that or just accept the garbage and crime and all the other depravity that will surely follow as this issue spirals even further and further out of control. This city government could not care less about us. I can't stress that enough. The gun safety groups get airtime because it's what these demo.c.r.a.ps think will help them get more votes next election. its all a game they play. we're just cattle to them. we're not even people in their eyes.

I totally hear you and have similar rage over what's happening in our city and more broadly across California (the US even). I also agree that it's tough out there to have a voice when you are not necessarily politically aligned with the people in charge. I often feel under represented as a single mother, professional, homeowner, and tax payer. A revolt, however, is going to require some organizing, charisma, and patience. My preference is to work together as Alamedans on a long term plan. We won't remove anyone from office overnight, but maybe we can find better representatives together and over time phase out the current leadership. And really no one will take us seriously if we yell and point fingers and call people names. Let's be smarter than them and leverage our outrage and concern strategically.
Anyone who's interested in getting in touch please reach out. Anyone who has contact info or suggestions for local business groups or other resident groups to contact please pass it along.
Well stated Sam! We are talking to ourselves if we do not work towards a resolution.
If the encampments are going to be ignored in Alameda the city has to at least take responsibility for cleaning up the debris and blight. There is evidence of illegal dumping becoming worse. The Oakland side of the tubes are reprehensible and now moving towards Alameda. It should not be allowed.
Hey everyone just a heads up there is some corrupt city officials going around mass-censoring posts, wiping out peoples comments without a trace, replacing the text in requests with "content blocked by rejections" (there is no way to restore the hidden text, it is wiped out forever), closing requests and then immediately archiving them to prevent you from commenting or reopening the request without actually resolving the problem that was reported, and a number of other nasty tactics like applying permanent censors to people's accounts so they can't post anything on the site at all.
You should probably read it before it gets deleted.
Stay very vigilant and alert folks. They could wipe out every post and comment you've ever submitted to this site in the blink of an eye and you won't even be notified when it happens. Make sure you save copies of all your documentation because the city is trying to bury and cover up the truth. They're trying to suppress dissent and censor dissidents.
They replaced my original request body with the words "content blocked by rejections." I had a very long and detailed post explaining what the problem was, but now nobody can even read it because they wiped it out. The only way to even figure out what my request is about is to scroll through the comments.
As you can see in my comments I have been exhaustively documenting the abuse all year. The request is from March 2019.
This morning I logged on to discover Florence Lopez closed and permanently archived my request so I can't even open or comment on it anymore. I can't even document what my neighbors are doing anymore and the fact that APD are still letting them get away.
When I tried to resubmit the issue to continue documenting the problem, Florence Lopez immediately stepped in a few minutes later and closed my request again. He has been singling me out this morning and wiping out a slew of my other requests as well.
I'm just letting you guys know because if this can happen to me, it can just as easily happen to any of you. The issue I'm submitting requests about on SCF is also a lot more severe than this homeless problem (not that I'm trying to downplay this issue, I agree that it is also a problem), but just to show that the city really couldn't care less and they really will go to far lengths to silence you and prevent anyone in Alameda from even knowing what you're going through.
Stay very frosty folks. Any minute they could wipe out your seeclickfix account, every post you've ever made. They could censor you in one click. Save copies of everything, screenshot everything. Don't let them silence you.
You've already seen them go into our homeless requests and close them with some generic BS response like "assigned to HLOs" so you guys already know what I'm talking about. Luckily we've been able to reopen these requests and post comments pointing out that the police didn't actually do anything, and that these "HLOS" may as well not even exist since they do nothing to abate the problem.
They could easily also archive the request so you can't even comment or reopen it. This will make it look to other people on the internet that they actually cleaned the homeless camp up. It makes it look like they did their job. They are doing this on purpose to deceive the public.
So keep a close eye on your request. If you see them close/archive it resubmit it. If they wipe out the body of the request keep a copy of it saved on your computer and paste it back in a new request.
It is not illegal to be homeless. They cannot be asked to leave if they are on City space and there is no alternative housing or shelter that can be offered for them to move. This is the law, called Boise decision, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in January 2020. If they are occupying a space that is privately-owned, owner can ask them to move. If they refuse, call APD, as this is trespassing. If an illegal activity, emergency, or someone is in imminent danger, report to APD. Outreach is aware of this site and visits the encampment regularly to offer services and connect individuals to resources.

that appeared before you last night along with the City Manager. Should be illuminating how they respond.

I posted a post to neighbors about it here: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/7043587
