Thank you for looking into this... If people on the road would go the posted speed limit, perhaps this would not be such a dangerous area. This morning when trying to leave to turn left out of Ventana Canyon, I was nearly hit by a car that was not in my vision when I initially pulled out. The car was clearly going too fast and by the time I got to the middle of the intersection and swerved to avoid hitting the speeding car coming from the South, a whole new group of speeding cars appeared on my right going the other direction! It should not be terrifying to drive out of my home! Thanks for the help!

Per the Traffic Division, The design of the entrance was to allow reasonable sight distance both direction upon egress. It is suspected that at some periods only a right turn toward McMahon/Ellison would be easier and shorter delay. What times are problems you are seeing? Many thanks.

Well, I imagine there is reasonable sight distance in both directions if traffic actually was going 35 m.p.h. as it is posted. However, most people travel at a minimum of 45 m.p.h. and much faster. Perhaps this could be taken into consideration as far as police enforcement is concerned? I have seen many speed traps in areas with much more sight distance available to drivers and this area is exceedingly dangerous compared to the areas that I see are heavily enforced. Turning right on McMahon/Ellison will add more time to the travel because the drive down Ellison to Coors involves at least 4 additional traffic signals and then Coors winds all the way around to Coors Bypass and then around to Irving. This is very inconvenient (although I appreciate the tip!) and I think the problem could be solved by enforcing the speed in this area. I know that a traffic signal is not going to happen, but I do hope this is taken seriously because after people are driving 30 m.p.h. on Golf Course going North past Irving, the speed increases to 35 and people just drive like maniacs down the hill. Even police officers who drive slowly in the other residential areas treat this area like a speedway. It is very frustrating to think that only certain areas in Albuquerque deserve to be enforced. Just because we live in apartments does not mean that we are not in a residential area that should be protected as much as the houses up the block are protected!
