The Alameda Police Department strives to provide quality service to all community members with respect, concern, care, dignity, and equal treatment. We are aware of the on-going complaints regarding homeless encampments and the Alameda Police Department is working closely with the City’s Community Development Department to address, understand, and act on issues involving homelessness in Alameda. Homeless, in itself, is not a crime, although we are aware of the community impacts a homeless encampment creates. The Alameda Police Department strictly adheres to legal requirements before displacing a homeless encampment and simultaneously provides community and County resources in an effort to achieve a functioning zero homeless population for Alameda. The City of Alameda’s Coalition Advancing Resources, Efforts, and Support (CARES) for Alameda’s homeless was initiated in early 2018 (formerly the Homeless Outreach Team) with the purpose of bringing together Alameda organizations with the combined goal of addressing homelessness. These groups include the Community Paramedics Program, Homeless Liaison Officer program, Community Development Department, community-based social service providers, faith-based coalitions, and the Alameda Housing Authority. In an effort to keep the Alameda community informed of the City’s efforts to address our homeless challenges, please reference the below link.
If you are reporting an emergency, or potential hazard to the community, contact our non-emergency line at 510-337-8340 or dial 911.
Why does it take six plus organizations to address one homeless person? This doesn’t seem like the most effective use of funds and resources especially when the issues remain unresolved.

I've been saying it over and over again but I will keep saying it until everyone hears this message:
Our city government DOES NOT SERVE the people of this island. They only SERVE THEMSELVES. Our police chief makes over 400 grand a year, that's $400,000 dollars. FOUR AND FIVE TRAILING ZEROS. Thats your tax dollars at work. He lives in an affluent estate all the way out in Danville and could not give one single f--- about this situation. He thinks these homeless are just poor poor victims and that we should all feel bad for them. He thinks its fine for them to as.s.a.ul.t people, to trespass on people's properties and steal from them, to shoot up d.r.u.g.s in front of pre schools and dump their needles in the sandbox. Our police chief is perfectly fine with that. He even sent me an email earlier this year telling me he was going to pay their fines for them after I finally got one of the repeat trespassers cited for trespassing and stealing from private property in my neighborhood. Do you want to know why? Because his kids don't live here. Danville would never in a thousand years allow stuff like this to happen in Mr. Rolleri's neighborhood. They have a real government and real police department over there. Over here all we have are sorry c.l.o.w.n.s like Rolleri who don't even live here or care about the community. That's the truth folks. Take it how you will.
This has been referred to the Alameda Homeless Hotline at 510-522-HOME. Going forward, please report issues to the hotline so they can be most responsive.

Keep in mind that this person has the right to refuse help and remain on the bench in front of a restaurant.
The City Council will not touch this with a ten foot pole. Virtue signaling will continue...😱
