Description
There is no safe way to cross the street from high street on the blake hotel side to crown tower, 8 high street side. You can’t use the corner at crown street because the sidewalk doesn’t exist due to the construction. You can’t cross at the corner of george and high because there is no light or crosswalk and too much traffic. Plus cars are double parked in front of the hotel and trucks in the street too. What a mess and it’s going to be like this for a long time.

Hi,
I am the alder for this area and appreciate this question and actually walk on this block everyday to get to work, so understand exactly what is being described. I had written to the city about this when it was first posted to find out why there was no temporary walkway on the Crown Tower side of the street. Below is my note to the city from Nov. 24.
Hi,
I walk this block every day and have been thinking it is not ideal that there is no sidewalk for half a block on one side, especially since so many people live on that side. I am guessing many folks cross High St in the middle of the road...
Is no sidewalk required because there is one on the other side and the street is too narrow for a temporary walkway to be added?
I wanted to ask what the rules are before responding on SCF. If a temporary sidewalk cannot be added, should a crosswalk be painted across High at George perhaps?
Thanks for your thoughts!

I was told the permit for the project allowed for the sidewalk to just end and that the city would update SCF to explain the issue, but I see that did not happen yet. Great if it can be officially updated now. (And if there is any possibility to change the permit requirement and add a temporary sidewalk that would be very helpful, though I know unlikely..)
Sorry to not have a better response.
Sincerely, Abby
