As someone who has lived in this neighborhood for the last 5 years, there has been a significant increase in difficulty when making a left from Galveston onto Recker. With all of the new housing developments and the widening of Recker there is increased traffic on Recker. It is nearly impossible to make a left hand turn during peak travel times (especially before and after school with Gateway Point being so close) and we often find ourselves making a right hand turn, going down to the next street and making a U-turn. Please consider putting a street light in here before a serious accident occurs.
I count at least 15 others with this same request. In the mornings taking a left turn on recker from Galveston turns into a potential game of chicken against many different directions. Please put a light or something else here
The issue has several layers to it. Recker being widened, increased traffic, and the children crossing for school have all been things that are causing this to be a bigger issue. Other streets on Recker have similar issues, but I noticed as I was traveling south that there is one thing that is making this intersection significantly worse than other streets. The landscaping is causing visibility issues. You have brand new trees that need to grow up so they're short and blocking the view of traffic, coupled with tall bushes which makes it even worse. With the new landscaping visibility has become reduced to an unsafe distance, even when cars are traveling at the speed limit it is difficult to see them and judge their speed as you try to cross traffic anywhere on this section of Recker (between Williams Field and Ray). A light would help for sure, but honestly removing the bushes and lower landscaping until the trees grow up would make this section much safer, then the bushes can be added back in.

This is ridiculous. The town of Gilbert and the engineer should be held responsible for the future accidents that happen here due to several issues with this location
This intersection is totally unsafe for pedestrians as well as drivers. Since we have major communities on all 4 corners of this intersection there is a definitive need for a traffic signal. I’m sure you have record of how many accidents have already occurred at this intersection in a short period of time. It’s only going to get worse as there is so much growth of home sites and businesses in this area. Gilbert lets do the right thing before someone gets hurts. Thank you.
