I take Jim's observation as fact and have also seen this kind of excessive speed on these local roads.
PJ's or not, it is happening and the local residents want something done. If you live in the area, you would agree.

Thornbury Township did the study. In fact there have been two studys in the last 5 years. Why do people who do not have facts alway resort to insults?

I say bring back the old oak tree that used to be in the middle of Thornton Road....That used to slow a few of the folks down. ahhh the good ole days. speeders just came around the bend (no stop signs then) and whamo.... right into the tree.. lol

Mill Road has been a cut through for decades.... no reason to see it ever stop. You want people to slow down... talk to your kids and neighbors. It is not out of towners driving through here. Don't waste my tax money. Or plant a tree.

Not addressing cut-through commuter traffic is short sighted on the part of our area's residents and law makers. Cut-through traffic increases wear and tare on the rural roadways, increases litter and trash, diminishes the quality of life for residents, and DECREASES property values. All of these things cost more in the long run.

Similar to your oak tree, modern traffic abatement techniques are availalbe and effective.

Agree with Jim 1000% and am willing to support this type of thinking and approach. Finally, a voice of reason and common sense.

WEGO and Thornbury BOS Police Liason says this is OK. as long as most of the traffic is in the 85 percentile. On average the 85th percentile speed has increased to 42 mph, up from 38 mph only 2 years ago. So as long as everyone drives fast it is OK. On top of it PA law does not allow citations for less than 10 mph over the limit.. So we have no laws, no local governement, and no law enforcement to protect our neighborhoods from the onslaught of out of town commuter traffic

So, as you have stated, all of the other non-speeding commuters and locals should adhere to the posted limts which., hopefully, will keep the vast majority driving at the posted speed limits. I think we also need to install more stop signs (which will be run most likely) more speed bumps (which will work somewhat) and ask our Township offcials to continue to support us in this endeavor. I pay a lot in property and local taxes which out of town commuters do not, why don't our local politicians listen to us who pay their salaries and who elected them to office??
