Description

The crosswalk lights at this intersection do not seem to cycle quick enough to ensure safe crossings. This is a very busy school bus stop and in the dark mornings, I've observed children crossing the street here after pressing the button to cycle the lights, waiting for a while, then crossing across moving traffic to get to the bus stop in time.

In addition to the above safety concern, I've observed the diagonal "scramble" crossing lights stay red through more than one traffic light cycle, after pressing the button to cross. Since the city went through the expense to install that scramble crossing, it's clear that there is awareness that there would be increased pedestrian traffic with the improvements at Pernoshal park and connection to Brooke Run, but the pedestrian crossing lights don't take priority over vehicular traffic. The lights at the Pernoshal and Peeler intersections cycle very frequently, so I don't believe that shortening the cycle time at this intersection would impede traffic at all.
