Dalton Drive use to refer to the side of the road that Dalton Industries resided on, this was a common practice when a company took up the entire side of a street
I`m guessing somebody in local Gov`t snuck this Rd. name change in ,(the street has 3 names for now).. ( e.361st. Dalton ,and Beidler) as there used to be a Dalton`s factory or store there years ago ...it just adds to the general confusion....like some of the roads in Mentor..city planners ..gotta love `em.
BTW I want to rename part of that road Dude st...as alot of dudes drive there...and maybe another part after my dog..Corky Ave
there used to be a company were woodhill industries is...named "dalton's"..hence the street name...company's been gone since 1988!!!..they owned that whole building plus the building that houses target..i know..cuz i worked there!!!!
Previous poster is correct, Dalton's owned the entire east side of Beidler Rd. from the tracks to Euclid Ave., so as the largest employer in town at the time, Willoughby re-named the east side of Beidler. This happened in the mid 70's as I recall. RTA busses ran full time routes bringing workers in from Cleveland/Euclid. The full name of the co. was Dalton, JamesKenRob. This was the owner's homage to his three sons. Dalton's made womens clothing, some hi-end stuff...there was a NYC connection for market. My dad was head of maintenance for 30 years.
Thanks to all of you who educated me on "Dalton Dr." Dalton drive is not on any official map that I could find, nor is it listed in the phone book under "Willoughby Street listings" The only place I have ever seen it, is on the "See,Click,Fix" map.

The street needs to be named after all of the present businesses.
(Name it one thing ,and be done with it.)
