This signal operates in what we call "3 phase mode"--the phases being E/W thru traffic, E/W left turns, then N/S traffic. At Redwood Rd and 2100 N it operates differently with what we call “"4-phase mode"--the four signal phases being NB traffic, EB traffic, SB traffic, then WB traffic. The geometry of both are indeed similar, however, the volumes and traffic patterns are much different. The traffic demand at the intersection with 13400 S now exceeds the capacity of the roadway network during peak hours. Other options at 2100 N and Redwood Rd are being evaluated and if it works well there, consideration will be given in Salt Lake County as well. It is also worth noting that we have tried a "4-phase mode" at 13400 S and Mountain View, and it didn't work well. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. Thank you.
