Hello, I would like to request that the traffic pattern be reevaluated at the intersection of Craycroft and River. The leading left turn signal when heading north on Craycroft is inefficient during evening commute times and especially during winter with increased snowbird traffic. Because the lane can only be accessed once traffic flows to about the Quiktrip turn in, often times only one or two cars will be in the lane during the green light period. A following green would allow additional cars to reach the turn lane during each cycle which would benefit the turning traffic and the northbound traffic in the western most lane.

leading left turn arrow operations was implemented at the Craycroft and River
traffic signal intersection to allow us more flexibility to distribute signal
timing per direction more effectively. The change has improved the overall
capacity of the intersection by using time that was previously wasted with
lagging left turn arrows by allowing the through and leading left turn movement
to run together based on demand of the opposite direction leading left turn. As
for your request I did several observation of the intersection at around the
4:45 to 5:45 Pm period and found the issue you describe infrequent,
additionally the northbound left turn movement is permissible during green ball
indication when there are gaps in opposing through traffic. On my observations
most cars that weren't able to get into the left turn lane because of the
queued through movement made the left turn during the green interval at a gap
in traffic. Based on these facts we will not be changing the operation of the
signal per your request. If you would like to discuss this further, please
