The entire route beginning from Main street where cars are parked on both sides of the road and where the 61 (bus) travels....a cyclist takes their life every day.
#1 Nobody behind the wheel travels speed limit (25mph) including SEPTA - - they go barreling down Main street from Green Lane to Shurs Lane to Ridge merge to SEPTA transfer, squeezing cyclists - pinning them either to a park car or squeezed by speed behind a moving car.
#2 the approach to Wissahickon transfer station during a compute is deadly. Cars spontaneously pulling to the curbside to drop off people, SEPTA pulling in and out of the turn-around, cars not wanting to accommodate the bicycle, and people moving, gathering -running across streets for buses.... CRAZY, SCARY...it will happen .someone will get hurt badly -- or it will be fatal.
Sharrows were put down early June - GREAT 1st step. Hoping step 2 and 3 will follow. Enforcement of travel speed and a solution to the disastrous Wissahickon SEPTA transfer station.

I take this route on pretty much a daily basis on my bike. The road is narrow and there is parking both sides. Cars have to wait behind me in order to pass if there is opposing traffic, but many squeeze by at high speed leaving inches. The 61 Bus is almost lethal, as it is wider and they seem to be making up time on their route or something by going 50 mph. In general the 25 mph speed limit is observed by no driver of any description.
At the Wissahickon creek, vans, trucks and cars, turn in and out from the restaurant depot and Duron paints cutting off bikers. many times I have had to brake hard to narrowly miss these vehicles. This intersection is so congested and inadequate for all users it is a serious issue for all users including and especially pedestrians.
These 2 sections are an embarrasment in the Schuylkill River and Bike trail from center City to valley forge and represent the very weak link in the chain. This heritage trail will never truly happen if something cannot be done to make this biker friendly. More speed limit signs and speed enforcement and sharrows would at least help until the side walk or a trail can be constructed along the river where an easement was supposed to be developed with the properties. (No easements developed to date or new trail constructed)

what's more, the city promised "sharrows" in their press release regarding the new construction and kelly drive detour. they've yet to deliver.
