Description
The Allen House parking lot at UVM which also is used for UVM Admissions has hundreds of employees and visitors use it every day. It is frequently hard and dangerous to pull out and in because cars waiting at nearby major stoplight at Main St are blocking the entrance. There have been accidents here with people pulling out and not being able to see people through the stopped traffic as well. I would like to recommend painting lines and a Do Not Block Driveway sign you try and make it more obvious and safer for folks to pull in and out of this busy lot. Thanks!

As it turns out, this situation would not qualify for “Do Not Block” intersection markings; this is because the request is for a driveway and not an intersection. “Do Not Block” intersection markings may be used to mark the edges of an intersection area that is in close proximity to another intersection, which might cause vehicles to stop within the intersection and impede other traffic entering the intersection. Ultimately, these markings are not to be used for driveways.
You can discuss this issue with the DPW Commission at their next meeting on Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 at 6:30 pm.
