  So a couple of things: I do agree that vehicle speeds tend to be slightly high in that area. We do have a number of crashes per year between vehicle leaving Hadley and vehicles on Salem. However, I don't know that we can put a pedestrian activated light at that location. Rules prohibit the installation of a stop light within a certain distance of an off ramp or traffic circle/rotary. I'm going to refer this to the Traffic Engineer to see if he has any ideas for resolution.

  My feedback, as someone who lives right there and experiences the intersection many times a day both as a driver and pedestrian. Due to the volume of traffic it is an extremely busy intersection, and often very difficult to turn left from Hadley. That also means drivers have a lot to look at with back up traffic and vehicles turning, and especially just coming off the highway, are not looking for pedestrians. It's a busy bus stop as well so there is a lot of crossing pedestrians. In fact the busses often block the view of vehicles from seeing pedestrians trying to cross. Perhaps a lighted ped crossing sign would help remind drivers, as well as some fresh striping. A light might help pedestrians as well as cars turning from Hadley, but it also quickly has the potential to gridlock the area including the rotary and offramps. It would be worth performing a proper traffic study.

  I was waiting for a bus at this intersection this morning and witnessed an accident when a car pulling out of Hadley Place hit a truck which had stopped at the crosswalk to allow a pedestrian to cross the road in the marked crosswalk. I understand this intersection has some special issues to be dealt with but can't you place two sets of falshing pedestrian walking lights(one on Hadley and one on Salem) like you have for the crosswalk at Salem and River Street? Pedestrians crossing here should have the same protections in this marked crosswalk as pedestrians anywhere else.
