I am really sorry to hear about your dog. I hope that he pulls through OK and that you find the person responsible.
Please do go talk to your Alderperson about this. Traffic calming projects like this one (e.g. speed bumps, curb bump outs, crosswalks etc.) are required to go through the "Complete Streets" program. Approval is required from a resource committee before Engineering is allowed to do any work on it. Your Alderperson can explain the process further with you, but I wanted you to be aware ahead of time.
Take a look at the link below when you have a moment.
http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/Engineering/completestreets.asp
You'll see the "Complete Streets Manual" and the "Project Request Form". You are not required to actually design anything, think of the manual as a showcase of the types of traffic calming features that can be installed. You don't need an Alderperson's support to submit a request, but I have seen them get involved with helping residents submit. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Again, best wishes to you and your dog. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I am so sorry to hear that, and worried, because we walk the same streets with our dogs (Johnny). I hope Twilite will be OK. How is he now?
Do you mean that the information that someone gave you about the car and license plate was wrong? I guess they just wrote it down wrong, right? If I can help, just leave a note in my mailbox.
Post more information about the car and the driver if you can.

Yours is better news than I feared to hear. I can't say it's exactly "good" news. But at least Twilight is moving around -- although gingerly -- and won't have to lose his tail (I assume). I live right around the corner from you and often meet Twilight on my morning walks. I even offer Twilight little treats, which he seldom accepts. But that's ok. He has his own taste, which he's entitled to. If there's anything I can do to help Twilight and/or you recuperate, let me know.
The poor little guy. He's such a sweetie !!

Other than this Alderperson, who else can facilitate this matter?

Sorry for the confusion, the Aldermen do not collect submissions. In the past, some have gotten involved in completing the application, but submissions should be turned in to the Department of Engineering.
You can email, fax, mail, or drop off the application to:
