Description
New access to Piedmont Park and Botanical Garden assumes cyclists will use side path, making for a dangerous mix of pedestrians, dogs, baby carriages, and inexperienced cyclists; parking lot gates do not have sufficient width for bike access, and pedestrian cross walk at new Botanical Garden entrance is marked with raised reflectors, that are slippery when wet.

Unfortunately, I just returned from Portland, Oregon.
In every aspect of the urban environment there, it is assumed that cycle traffic will use the roadway.
This is not enlightened thinking. It is simply non-backwards.
For bikes, the new entrance to the Botanical Gardens area lies somewhere between dumb and malicious, depending on one's direction and entrance lane traveled.
