Description
The now empty lot on East Jones already was cleared of houses and when the tornado went through, the broken and damaged trees were cut down and taken. Now there are many FULL GROWN TREES in GOOD condition that are an irreplaceable ASSET to the property and to the community look and ecology marked with orange Xes . PLEASE do NOT TAKE these trees! This neighborhood has suffered enough and as a homeowner here and also a builder I know the value of the landscape and especially in mature shade producing plantings. These trees are not infringing on any property and they certainly could be protected and worked around when the time comes to build dwellings. They are NOT the issue in the criminal activity that happens here and they signifigently add to the appeal and actual natural climate amelioration in this community. I am at this time lodging a protest to any plan to remove those trees and there is no proposal of replanting new trees that would be acceptable as i know it is impossible to replace a landscape plant of size and purpose and there is also no care to insure the health and growth forthcoming for future plantings in any local property city owned or private.. Please send this to City council woman Mary Ann Baldwin and representative Eugene Weeks and all others that could take an interest in an area that needs help. The City Landcape and Maintenance department needs to re assess m what is happening and the builders in this area should be m,andated to keeping not just "restoring" a planting that offers shade, OXYGEN , and cultural and aesthetic benifit for the p[resent and future residents of our city. and home. Thankyou greatly.

Community Development provide the following information about the trees and development in this
area: Below, please see an explanation of this proposed project. The re-use plans are for new single-family houses and infrastructure improvements.
The area being referenced is the parcel of land bounded by Idlewild Ave on the west , E. Jones on the North and Heck on the East. The subject piece of property is currently being recombined and subdivided to create eight lots, to be redeveloped with new infill single family homes which will be sold to first time homebuyers.
As part of the project we will also be widening and realigning the 100 Block of Heck street. The infrastructure improvements will require the removal of some of the trees that currently stand in the way of the right of way improvements along Heck street. The surveyor has pinned the lots to identify possible conflicts within the proposed building envelopes. A meeting was held 9/12 on-site with the City Arborist (Zachery Manor). The site was walked to compared the field conditions to the plat plans. There are some trees that are in the way of the street widening along Heck St. There are also several that are located within the proposed building envelopes that will have to be removed. We will be installing tree protecting around the ones that will not be impacted.
It is premature for us to confirm which trees will have to be removed at this time. It was decided that once we get into the construction phase we will revisit the site to make a final decision on which trees will remain as part of the infill project. Along with new houses, the construction will require replacement trees on each new lot.
As in previous redevelopment efforts, the new homes and property improvements have generally had a positive impact in the surrounding community.
