Description

Firstly, I am asking that you do NOT use my name regarding this report for fear of retaliation to myself and perhaps my job.

I have worked at the Contemporary Jewish Museum over 5 years and have been exposed to chemicals, saw dust, paint, extreme noise from table saws and the alike.

I have notice an increase in headaches, upsetting stomach, migraines.
This area originally was to be shared between the Museum Store Merchandise and the Museum Storage area in the basement. The Museum Storage was never intended to be a workshop. This workshop has no exhaust ventilation, nothing to reduce the amount of noise from the equipment in the area. There is no barrier to halt the saw dust when the saws are in operation in the common area thus exposing me to the dust particles that seem to stay in the area for hours on end.
I have notice an increase in headaches, upsetting stomach, migraines.
I try to stay out of the area as much as possible when work is being done to protect my health but I need to remind the reader this area is a shared area and most of my work needs to be done in the common area. I don’t believe the workshop is up to code, nor in my opinion, even allowed.

Another concern is how we store paint inside the building, Mechanical Storage area also in the basement near the elevators. We store left over paint that is rarely used but for some reason the museum refuses to get rid of it.

I would appreciate someone looking into this.
