Hello, I have not had a response yet, I also left a voicemail and a few months ago submitted this issue as well. Issues started after construction on culvert at front of neighborhood about a year ago. Please respond.
Thank you for voicing your concerns. Yesterday, we had almost four inches of rainfall. This amount of rain causes Foe Killer Creek to flood. Your property is located down stream of where two large tributaries tie into Foe Killer Creek. Your property is inside of regulated flood plain. You can look this up here; https://msc.fema.gov/portal/home. Flood waters often carry large debris and there is no way to control that. We have looked at the construction that occurred last year at the front of your neighborhood. The runoff from that work redirected a small amount of water to a tributary that flows to Foe Killer Creek which is where it was going anyway. This volume of water is negligible when added to the total volume of water from the over 700 acres that drain into Foe Killer Creek and the two tributaries upstream of your property. If you would like for a City representative to meet you at your residence to inspect the area, please call 678 297 6138.
Thank you for the response. Yes, I will call, again, as one day of rain causing this level of flooding is not normal. We have lived here for 6 years, and the only other time prior to the construction last year that the flooding reached this level was during storms that lasted several days, such as hurricanes. I believe the construction increased water flow. Thank you for pointing out the other numerous factors that could have increased the waterflow and lead to flooding. I plan to ask the city to look into all of those sources to solve this issue.
