Description

I travel on Pierson Lane every day and since work was done on the tracks last summer, I have noticed that the crossing gates at the Pierson Lane crossing, come down when there is a train waiting at the Windsor Station in town. This results in the gates being down for several minutes, sometimes as many as five, with no sign of a train coming. I have seen on three separate occasions, impatient motorists get frustrated and go around the down crossing gates causing a very unsafe condition. My thought is that the gates should not come down until the train has immediately left the station, like it was in the past. During the reconstruction of the area they must have moved the crossing gate trip point south causing this to happen. Amtrak, of whoever is responsible, should look into this and review the situations for safety reasons. Thank you.
