Description

Unstable stream with heavy sediment runoff that runs through my property that drains into the Lower Longview Lake.

We are a national historic landmark as is 400 Chatham Lane. My house is called the Jesse Martin Neal Jr house on the US National Park Service and US Department of Interiors registrar of historic homes and neighborhoods.

The stream that runs through my property needs more rip-rap and guidance (potentially some grasses for stabilizing) as it drains all the way into Lower Longview Lake, this project could be done in conjunction with the 400 Chatham Lane project that’s on the list on the website currently at position 35.

The amount of stormwater that runs through the stream requires some significant foundation and stabilization as it becomes quite the rapids when the stormwater appliance at 400 Chatham drains into it. There is little to no rip-rap currently in the stream so the current sediment that runs into lower Longview Lake is significant.

I imagine the City of Raleigh wants to protect their investment and prevent lots of sediment from upstream from flowing into lower Longview Lake and the millions of dollars they just spent to reconstruct it and install a dam appliance.

They just completed of redoing Lower Longview Lake just last year in 2019 (https://raleighnc.gov/projects/content/PWksStormwater/Articles/LowerLongviewDam.html)

And it looks like the city engaged in a stream stabilization project on the other side of the lower longview lake from us as well.

Exhibit A

The stream that drains into lower Longview Lake that needs to be stabilized by rock and plantings, grasses, rip-raft, ect.

Well now this side of the lake needs a similar project done as we get a good amount of Stormwater from Bertie Dr and Chatham Lane. The residences involved are 400 Chatham, 204 Longview Lake Dr, and 2504 Albemarle Ave
