I agree. Upper State is pretty busy with both cars and people, but its a little scary as a pedestrian if you want to cross. A lot of people just force the issue, but signage would make it a lot friendlier.
There is a meeting next week with the city to discuss where a few pilot signs might go.
Upper State Street Association will be attending to advocate for this location and others on State Street.
The Upper State Street Association and Bob Frew will be donating two of these signs to the City of New Haven to be installed in the street. One will be installed by the city in the coming months at this location. One will be installed at Bishop Street and the city is purchasing one for the Pearl Street crossing.
Thank You to Traffic and Parking for working with the community on this.
The sign is in the road. Unfortunately the other sign in front of Marjolaine was stolen last night. 9.05.08
If anyone saw anything, please call Ben at 203.415.6878
These signs were generously donated by Bob Frew and the Upper State Street Association and it is sad to see the effort stripped away within 24 hours.
This intersection, with the parking lot at Hine and State has problems with late night vandalism and mischief. The sign was there last night when I came home around 8:30 p.m., but sadly was gone this morning.
The other one keeps getting moved too.
I keep moving it back into the street.
They have slowed traffic so much that any pain in putting them back is definitely worth it though.
