Description
Develop the existing Huntsville Madison County Railroad Authority trackway as a public transportation railway from Ditto Landing to Downtown Huntsville. This would provide an alternative to the Parkway that would connect shopping, entertainment, and municipal areas to residential areas to the south. Also, abandoned railroad rights-of-way might be considered for Northward extension to the Alabama A&M area.

Hobbs) and by taking action on this idea we end up creating more issues in the South end of town than we already have. Vote no on this idea.

Elevated portions could minimize traffic disruption. This is only a paragraph about the idea, not a plan for design. Certainly this city has the engineers to consider the HOW's, and to address feasibility. It does have the potential of being useful.
The shuttle system has it's problems, to be sure. Traveling the length of Huntsville, from the A&M area to south Huntsville could take hours.
With a north-south axis such as this rail line, the shuttles could provide east-west transit along it's length.
