Description

Currently bus riders can not see when the next bus is coming. Please add GPS tracking the buses as well as the ability to pay by credit card.

Would rather walk in a snowstorm than take bus (Guest)

How will this help when the buses just don't show up or running behind? Its a rare day when a bus actually shows up on scheduled. Evening time I've waited hours for a bus that is supposed to run every 20 minutes and the drivers always say I don't know why the last 4 buses didn't show up.

Letting people know their bus may not show for an hour or at all will only discourage ridership as they will find alternate modes of transportation, like walking if you get there sooner.

Sorry GREAT IDEA, but this is CT Transit your asking.

This is dumb. Most folks riding buses are poor and can't afford cell phones. Credit card companys would take a cut, maybe 30 cents, so fares would have to rise

This is a good idea, not a dumb one. Studies have shown an increase in ridership when real-time updates are given to riders. And MOST bus riders these days have cell phones, so this would be a useful tool to the majority of bus riders. We need to continue to improve our public transit infrastructure, not let it stagnate while we increase fares.

We absolutely need GPS for buses. Not only so passengers know how long they will have to wait, but also to figure out if another bus line will get there before the one they are waiting for.

CT Transit supervisors will be able to see what drivers are late, how long they are taking for breaks, and can start getting rid of the "chronically late" drivers. (I have one every morning who is chronically 5 minutes late, and I think he does it on purpose to make passengers miss their connecting bus (it's always a block ahead and my bus makes no effort to catch up or let the other bus know he's right behind with transfers for the other bus.)

The GPS has been installed as you can use Transit app to tack the buses. The card readers are also installed though they do not work...
