There have been several postings about getting rid of these unwanted tents. I called to report them last week. As far as I can tell, the police department has not responded. There also have been several references to these guys being the dealers who were kicked out of another camp. It is not acceptable. It is ludicrous that we tax paying citizens have to follow all the rules including paying property taxes, mortgages, rent, HOA fees, utilities, business licenses, etc. and these guys don’t have any rules or accountability at all. As a victim of several building break-ins, your immediate help is desired and required. Even during this shelter in place, they are not entitled to be squatting here, right? They can go to a shelter or jail if they are dealers. We Emeryville tax payers are supporting housing in conjunction with Oakland. Take them there. Please get rid of them or we will end up like the frightening messes in Berkeley and Oakland. Once it gets out of hand, it will be much more difficult. I can’t believe you will let this happen to Emeryville.
Please respond to me as well as to the SeeClickFix site.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We are aware of the issue and the proper resources has been offered to the people for follow-up action. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you, M. Lee #311
Residents in this neighborhood who have to be out alone to pick up supplies for elderly or walk their dogs DO NOT feel safe. Civic Center is shut down, so area is deserted. There is increase in squatting and loitering on this block. Please prioritize this matter before this escalates to opportunistic crime. Thank you.
Due to The Governor's Executive Order regarding Covid 19 the police department is restricted in this situation. The order states massive resources are assisting the homeless into shelters for everyones' safety. An officers who specializes in providing resources to the homeless made contact with the people at the location this week. The officer offered services to them and passed on the information to available centers to them. He also notified the centers about them. In addition, we are providing extra patrol in the area. If you have any questions, please contact us. Thank you, M. Lee #311
