Discarded E-waste. Another TV, probably the same one as last week. Clearly, the owner expects this to be picked up, but is unaware of the R-waste rules. Oddly, were it a microwave oven, it would have been picked up with the regular collection. Bett▶Aberta
Well, it's no longer on the street, but not because the JCIA picked it up, so I don't know why they would say that. The TV is still in the yard of 50 mercer. Clearly the people discarding the TV are trying to do so responsibly, but they don't know how. They are not abandoning the TV or their responsibility. The problem is communication. I don't know what to do short of knocking on the door or leaving a note. But notifying see click fix alone doesn't help the people trying to discard E-waste.
I have have been "suggesting" an education campaign for some time now. One of the ideas is to distribute door hangers to the surrounding properties that educate people on recycling, e-waste and the proper way (and when) to put trash at the curb. Alas, nothing.
John, I'll send on your comment to JCIA but putting a sign on the TV is also helpful. It's something that we do in Harsimus Cove -- yours can be hand written of course.
