Description
New street signs have been being made for some time now to include the street suffix in larger letters on the signs. This causes the street name to be made SMALLER. This seems to be a GREAT WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY when the current signs are actually BETTER than the new format. There is really no need to see the suffix of a street name. If you are searching for a location and see the name, you will usually be at the correct place. About the only time that the suffix really matters is to distinguish between a street and a circle and the circle (or court) usually runs off of the street with the same name. Plus, the signs that have the suffix spelled out, causes the street name to be HARDER TO READ FROM A DISTANCE. So, to whoever is in charge of this "redo", it is my opinion, and probably many others, that the street signs remain in the fashion that they have been for so many years and save all the money that it is costing to make a new sign with larger pieces of metal, new lettering, and putting it up. I would like to know if this procedure will continue to take place until all signs in the city are changed and made harder to read. Did you really test the effectiveness of this change or was this just a project to keep someone busy or someone selling a product to the city?
