Good question, Matt. It would be helpful to know (1) how expensive it would be, and (2) if there are any good sources of funding for it.

The City said that it was investing some $2,000 CDBG Historic Preservation funds for an Accessibility Survey of the West Library FY08. Both Alds. Gewirtz and White were responsive to this issue, and so was the Library Director, and so was the Director of the historic Preservation Commission. In addition, the library staff were very supportive, and seemed aggrieved that their Library was not providing services in an integrated manner. But, requests for updates were consistently ignored, and the CDBG Plan came out without a specific reference to the West Library. I will look up the history and see if I can ferret out any updates to that plan.
