Street light out at 26/28 prospect extreme darkness, my van was already stolen, have asked policeman, state rep who has called the town but after weeks its its still not fixed. I do not have a driveway so our family cars must stay on the street at night in the dark...can someone help before more theft or damage happens???

Hi Sue & Jeff,
Thanks for the report. Is this particular street light the only one that's not functioning on the whole street? Sounds like an easy thing to fix. I'm not sure if it's the town's responsibility. Is it a state road or just a local street?
Also, did police ever recover your van?

I've uploaded a photo from the google maps street view option - which isn't directly available yet in SeeClickFix, but may be in the near future.
Is that the street light that's out?

I think the Town contracts someone to fix the lights or CL&P owns them or something, i saw a Sylvania truck out there one day and thought oh good, it being fixed...nope....has not been fixed...i have a small flood light hanging off my porch to try and light up the street alittle...but you can imagine its not very effective....It took along time i know for another neighbor to get another street light fixed on Cottage Green. But this has been almost a month so far. I am friendswith Kathy Tallerita and a police officer, both have at some point put in repair requests to the town's maintenance dept...
but as far as im concerned this is too long to wait since bad things have already happened....
thank-you

Hello Sue,
Sorry to hear about the van. That's unfortunate and I hope your insurer covered the loss.
I have contacted the town's Public Works Director, Piya Hawkes (763-7599), on your behalf and they took down the address and the complaint. They said that if you call CL&P, they refer this kind of compliant to the public works director's office, so we found the right place.
Good luck!
