WE HAVE 1 AT THE CHARTER SCHOOL OFF HIGHLAND AVENUE TOO. THE KIDS AREN'T EVEN OUT OF SCHOOL YET AND HE STANDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH SIGN AT HIS SIDE AND EXPECTS PEOPLE TO STOP. WE WILL RUN HIM OVER.

PA Law if you don't OBEY crossing guards or construction worker directing traffic YOU WILL lose your license for 90 days MANDATORY !!

HE'S STANDING IN THE STREET WITH NO SIGN UP, THAT IS NOT DIRECTING TRAFFIC. THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF THESE PEOPLE IS THE LOCAL POLICE CHIEF, TALK TO THE CHIEF AND THEY WILL TELL YOU AND THEIR PEOPLE THAT THEY ARE NOT TO DIRECT TRAFFIC OTHER THAN TO CROSS THE CHILDREN. IF THE CHILDREN AREN'T OUT OF SCHOOL OR NEAR A CROSSWALK WHY IS HE IN THE STREET?

This is referring to the crossing guard at Burmont and I think Bond Ave.? She will cross joggers, people walking their dogs....anyone. And stop traffic WAY before the person is even at the corner. It's really unnecessary.

I like it... you drivers are over agressive and need to be told what to do.. driving is not a right!!! So pay attention to the crossing guard.

Yeah...I do not need to be "told" what to do by some mom with a stop sign and an orange vest. Show me her test scores and "credentials" on traffic safety and maybe I'll take her opinion into account. Until then....she needs to comply with normal traffic laws just like everyone else.

I am the guard at question, and I feel as though you are overreacting here. I am informed to cross these people at all costs. My scores, since you asked are in the 95th percentile when it came to my traffic safety scores. Thanks for asking.

and f that person, causes any injuries or accidents they are libel for the damages either to property or persons...its a insurance thing.

Actually, the law reads "The following persons are authorized to direct, control or regulate traffic:...#2 Adult school crossing guards for assisting SCHOOL CHILDREN across busy or hazardous highways." (PA Vehicle Code Para 101.2.)

Way to go, Frank. Let's hope this 95-percentile guard returns to read this. She obviously does not know the code.

As a retired guard, I can clarify this. Section 1B of the law cited (amended 2012) States: "Any person deemed distressed or unable to walk on own will, must be assisted properly in crossing street or intersection." I.e. elderly or handicap etc. So depending on the situation she might not be at fault. Hope this helps.

This guard is doing the right thing by helping ALL people cross at this intersection. Your job isn't that important. You can wait until they're done.

My job is important to me. Just like their job is important to them. Don't go around telling people what is and isn't important, "Closer". You're not God.

I love how the person making the comment pretended to be concerned for the crossing guard's safety at first but now is clearly displaying that it's actually all about his or her entitlement.

You all sound like a bunch of whiny kids. I agree with the commenter who said drivers need to be told what to do. How many of you who aren't from and don't live in these neighborhoods end up driving onto people's lawns or into buildings or causing accidents all because you're out of control? I'm sick of hearing about yet another person passing through who can't drive the right way. Having a car doesn't make you special. The focus should ALWAYS be on pedestrians, not cyclists and not cars. Crossing guards should be there in school zones. They exist to remind people to respect the fact that that particular area is about the kids, not about their own entitlement. I don't need to be crossed across the street as an adult but I respect the crossing guard because she represents the children who DO need to be crossed across the street. It's not about people simply passing through but about those who actually LIVE there.

I disagree that quality of life issues aren't important though. When you stop paying attention to quality of life issues or give them a pass, that's when real problems are able to manifest themselves. I suggest the original complainant learn what is actually a quality of life issue though because this certainly isn't one.

DH...I was saying that the person complaining about the crossing guard can wait until that guard completes crossing people. The person complaining can wait & has a job that isn't that important. And, I am God.
