This relates to the issue with the access to the railway from the other side of this block on MLK. Homeless people have been camping out here for a very long time. A car was burned here, the entire area is poorly lit, and the litter only gets worse. This is more than an eyesore, it's a public health issue and a nightmare for public safety.
Still people living here. I heard from city councilman Andre McGrary that the mayor does not intend to do anything about this, and the police will not intervene as long as the people are not causing trouble.
This is still an issue. I've contacted the railroad company, but still getting nowhere. This is in the heart of our city. If people don't feel safe our city cannot grow. Ever walked by here at night? It's a bit frightening.
