I like my weekend, I like the labor laws, I don't get more than a couple of paid holidays a year, and I have to be available even on holidays in the event of an emergency. What I don't like are work rules that protect the incompetent and the greedy. Why be able to get a sick day and then also collect overtime by working another day? I don't get that and I am sure a lot of others don't either. Why can't BART train new drivers? Because the union members know that if there is real competition that most of them would be replaced by harder working new workers. These work rules are why unions are dying. There is no support for unions outside of the unions and their political lackeys. I would work for BART non-union in a heart beat but I bet you there are not ten union members that would dare to do the same.

If even one of those jobs became available today, under the newly proposed BART board rules, there would be ten thousand or more applicants, TODAY. The union members are greedy, incompetent and lazy and I hope they all lose their jobs.

The City of Oakland has it's hands full responding to real requests for service. If you want to post political rants there are other venues for that.

That may be true, but no other place is acknowledged by the City so openly and quickly. It is a fine venue. No time is wasted. The powers that be know they can dispose of these comments quickly and easily, but they have to acknowledge them, in writing, and in a public forum. Can you tell me any one other forum that can do the same thing? I don't think you can.

If anyone is impacted by the economics of this strike they should be able to comment on SeeClickFix. This is a threat to our very way of life. 2000 thousand odd union members are causing thousands of people's way of life at risk. The poor, the rich, the businesses all depend on our being able to use BART. Think about the poor that have to pay extra, and to spend extra time to make minimum wage, just so some SEIU lackey can have an incompetence protecting job rule? How many people would give almost anything just to get a BART job? How many people do you think would just like the chance to compete for a BART job? Get a grip, SEIU protects the incompetent.

The LAW allows them to strike and march and carry signs. You may not like it, but it's their right to do so.

It is their right for now. I hope they all lose their jobs and the right to strike. They are just economic terrorists. Heck, Al Qaeda could hardly do a better job of screwing up the economy out here.
