Description
On the southern connector, near where the unregulated skate park facilities are constructed, against the north end of the sound barrier wall, a permanent encampment is being constructed with dimensional lumber, nails, tarps, plastic and tree brush for cover. These need to be removed as it will invite more squatters and associated behavior.

I can’t imagine living on South Crest and having this going on. Walking through my yard? They’d be met by me and my Chief’s Special.
That said, are you folks calling the police, or just relying on SCF to take care of it? This seems ineffective to say the least. The lack of any sort of feedback only adds to the consternation.
Someone is spending a lot of money. Who? Is it sanctioned and we’re not being told?

A City licensing committee will hear a request for a waiver to keep the area open for skateboarding during a Zoom meeting on Tuesday September 29 at 5:30 p.m.
You may send written comments, before that meeting date, to Lori Olberg, staff person for the committee: lolberg@burlingtonvt.gov
She will put them on the city website at BoardDocs.
You may also ask for an agenda and to be added to a mailing list for updates and documents, and for instructions on how to sign up for the Zoom meeting.
As adjoining neighbors these are concerns:
Late night noise, vandalism, open air toilets, trash and fires continue at this skateboard site.
This area does not have easy access for city fire or police access for regular patrol.
There are no bathrooms.
We fear that a precedent set here is one that leaves the city open for further liability on other open land.
The illegal shelter attached to the sound barrier fence remains even after the city was notified earlier this summer.
There has been no contact with city officials on SeeClickFix since July. However, Councilor Chip Mason of Ward Five has just told us about the meeting and said the park stands until the City Council votes to remove it.
License Committee members are:
Councilors Jack Hanson, Chairman
Chip Mason
