Are you really calling for more police enforcement right now? Have you looked at the news in the past week?

@sbercu I intentionally dont watch or read any news.

It would seem prudent for the city to post unarmed police officers in public places to distribute masks and to write citations when necessary.

There are a handful of open spaces where I have seen people not wear masks, and as such those places become unusable to the rest of us:

- City Hall Lawn
- Sennott Park
- Dana Park

There are certainly other places in the city that I don't frequent that could benefit from more strict enforcement.

Thanks for that note. The fact is that it is the law in Cambridge for masks to be worn.

Maybe other city workers could help enforce this? Crossing guards, other staff?

All mask laws can not be enforced, you crazy people. If they could why has not one ticket been given to anyone in the city in the last few months for it?

Thank you for reporting your concern to City of Cambridge via Commonwealth Connect. The Cambridge Police Department's primary role has been to educate violators about the importance of wearing a face covering in any public indoor or outdoor spaces and distribute masks, as appropriate. In the event that residents do not cooperate and willingly refuse to comply, they can be subject to warnings or a $300 fine. Officers are encouraged to use their discretion.
