I rode by 603 Stevens Street and noticed a few stones thrown on the side of the permitted driveway. I guess this is how the City of Lowell solves their parking problems, why would someone go through all the hassle of getting a legitimate parking permit when one can just go and make up fake driving lots. Please hire someone in zoning who knows the laws. This is one of the main streets into the City of Lowell and slowly but surely it is turning into a dump.
I refuse to drive down Wilder St. these days as it's a mess, with cars everywhere, and no lawns, and every car parked there should be ticketed. Also Wedge St. around the corner from St. Margaret's school is getting to look like Wilder St.
The deterioration in the Highlands, is due to unscrupulous builders, and city officials asleep at the wheel. These people don't care what Lowell looks like, or what it will look like in ten years.
Strolling through Highland/Callery park this afternoon, I noticed a man ride over the curb from Parker St. and drive through the park over to the little league area where he proceeded to hit balls with two young kids. When I told him that vehicles were not allowed , in the park, that parks are for people, he proceeded to tell me that he runs the park, and that I didn't know the law. There was plenty of parking available , for him to park, on D St.,and Parker . Imagine if everyone did what he did, the park would become a big parking lot, and very unsafe for kids. I hope the city puts up signs clearly stating that vehicular traffic is not allowed , in the park.
Callery park is a lost cause now, other than the tennis courts, and the shaded area off Stevens St., Callery is just a maze of fencing, covered in ugly advertising, and devoted to baseball, and during the spring and summer months, it congested with cars. I like baseball, buy Callery park is overkill.
