Description

The drainage ditch is currently not providing water to enter, instead it's basically jumping the ditch and creating havoc while driving in heavy rains for months. The water starts pooling up, then makes it own trail going over parts of the road at a dangerous corner. I couldnt get a clear shot while driving of specific backed up drain. But its located on bankhead just after passing gaslight.
I pulled in Darlington Rd off Bankhead and was able to walk up, and see that none ( none !) Of the following 6 or 7 drainage grates on the side with houses of bankhead pkwy placed for mountain rain downstream in peoples yards along Bankhead.... even had water....they were just about dry. Meanwhile pools of water flooding and spilling into the road, causing hydroplane for some. The water drainages are not flowwing properly along those curves, appeared to just not be getting the water because the upstream drainage concrete thing pictured( just past gaslight entrance as you go down mountain ) packed full dirt and weeds growing out of that makes the rain water coming down the mountain flow over it and into the road and doesnt direct down to the other drainage grate as you travel down Bankhead towards Tollgate Rd.
Lots of eroision is taking place because of this backed up drain for quite sometime I've been noticing. You can tell the water has been making it's own damns and rerouting itself to the road etc..rather than the rainwater flowing thru all the drainage grate down to Darlington Rd.
